In 2002 the l'Associazione Castello dell'Acciaiolo was born by initiative of the City of Scandicci with the addition of the City of Pontassieve, the Camera di Commercio di Firenze, the University of Florence, the industrial consortium consisting of AIMPES, CNA, Confartigianato, Guccio Gucci S.p.a., CISL, CGIL, the consortium Centopercento Italiano, and the Regional Scholastic Ministry of the Region of Tuscany.

Carrying out functions of study and research, the consortium also has the task of realizing a historical archive of the leather trade.

The consortium supports the City of Scandicci, which is ultimately responsible for the restoration project, with suggestions and advice regarding the reutilization of the castle.

The park remains at the disposition of the city. In it children may freely play, and every holiday season the city plans to organize cultural exhibitions.
