The transformation of Via Pascoli into a pedestrian zone, which followed the redevelopment of Piazza Matteotti -- works both aimed at the creation of a more "livable" urban environment -- signals another important step in a more ambitious project of redevelopment of the central urban axis of Scandicci.
Confirming the desire to improve quality of life, further redevelopment of streets, plazas and buildings is planned. The choice to transform Via Pascoli into a pedestrian zone hallmarks, therefore, a project of wider scope that proposes a pedestrian walkway between the historical Piazza Matteotti and the new downtown (designed by the architect Richard Rogers) that entered the planning stage in 2006.
